Here are the top stories today in Avon-Avon Lake: It's that time of year, tax time! If you need a little extra help, according to a Facebook post from the Avon Lake Library, "Tax preparation assistance is available for Lorain County residents. There is a link from the United Way of Greater Lorain County for 14 locations throughout the county. Slots typically fill up quickly, so it's encouraged for those interested in these services to sign up early. According to cleveland.com, "Applications for the 2023 Avon Lake Community Council’s Citizen of the Year and Project of the Year are now being accepted. Both nominations are for individuals or groups that have shown significant involvement in and dedication to the community of Avon Lake, according to a press release. Nominees for Citizen of the Year must be an Avon Lake resident who has provided significant community service as a volunteer, without monetary reward. The Project of the Year nominees may be an individual or a group. The award is given to a project that merits community-wide recognition for its positive impact on the community and residents of Avon Lake. Deadline for nominations is March 31. Nomination forms are available at the Avon Lake Public Library, 32649 Electric Blvd., and at City Hall, 150 Avon Belden Road.
